The 2023 DSF Patient Assistance Grant Program is now open!

Medical expenses are high when you have a loved one with Dravet syndrome, and we know everyone in our community needs help at one time or another. By providing financial assistance for necessary medical equipment, the DSF Patient Assistance Grant (PAG) Program provides a valuable resource to patients, helping them offer the best quality of care for their loved one, regardless of their financial situation.

Through this program, grants are offered worldwide to patients with Dravet syndrome and related SCN1A epilepsies for necessary medical equipment, therapy devices, and educational aids that are not covered through private insurance or other assistance programs. The program opens March 1st and closes each year on December 1st.

Items that are currently covered under this program include, but are not limited to:

  • Durable medical goods (such as wheelchairs, orthotics, cooling vests, etc.)
  • Therapy equipment
  • Communication and educational devices, such as iPads
  • Costs associated with implementation of the ketogenic diet

The program does not cover medical co-pays, therapy costs, respite assistance or service animals. If the equipment you are interested in is not listed above or you are requesting more than three items, please contact us with more details on the requested item(s) and we can review its eligibility.

Families can apply on their own, or a medical provider or social worker may complete the application on their behalf. Applications will be reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-served basis. An applicant may apply once per grant cycle with a yearly maximum of $1,500 and a life-time award maximum of $5,000.
