Host a Unique Benefit Event for DSF

Over the years, many Dravet families have shared an interest in hosting a larger fundraising event to raise awareness of Dravet syndrome and support the Dravet Syndrome Foundation (DSF), but aren’t sure where to begin. Planning a large-scale event—especially if you’re new to fundraising—can feel overwhelming and difficult to take on alone.

That’s where DSF comes in.

DSF has developed a proven, turnkey fundraising program that helps families and communities come together to host unique, fun, and successful benefit events. While our signature Casino Night events remain a favorite, we’ve also partnered with families to host creative experiences such as:

  • Boutique bowling alley fundraisers
  • Indoor table tennis events
  • Game show–style battle nights
  • And other interactive, adult-focused social events

These events give supporters a memorable night out while raising critical funds and awareness for Dravet syndrome.

A DSF Benefit event typically includes entertainment (casino games, bowling, etc…), dinner, sponsorship opportunities, live and silent auctions, and more. It’s a high-energy, social evening that brings people together around a cause they care deeply about.

Best of all, DSF staff manages the major planning and execution, allowing families and local volunteers to focus on the parts they enjoy most—building community support, securing sponsors and auction items, and inviting friends and family to attend.

A Responsible, Proven Fundraising Model

DSF follows established fundraising criteria to ensure we are responsible stewards of every gift we receive. By leveraging experienced staff, dedicated volunteers, and strong community partnerships, we keep fundraising costs low while creating impactful, well-run events.

By sharing the workload, we ensure the planning process—and the event itself—is enjoyable, collaborative, and rewarding for everyone involved.

DSF staff supports each event by handling:

  • Budget development
  • Event timelines and planning schedules
  • Committee and staff planning calls
  • National sponsor procurement
  • Event registration portals
  • Ticket sales and donation management
  • Design and production of printed materials (programs, signage, etc.)
  • Event setup, execution, and cleanup

Local families and volunteers play a vital role by helping to:

  • Shape the event theme and format
  • Secure silent and live auction items
  • Obtain local sponsors
  • Promote the event within the community
  • Drive ticket sales
  • Assist with event-day setup
  • Serve as hosts and ambassadors during the event

Since our first Casino Night—Double Down for Dravet in Frisco, Texas, in 2012—the Texas planning committee alone has raised more than $1.5 million. That success has inspired similar events in Boston, Philadelphia, Houston, and beyond.

Many of these events become cherished annual traditions, strengthening community connections while significantly advancing DSF’s mission.
