Sirena Denbow

Originally hailing from the beaches of Southern California, Sirena was transplanted to Washington State in 1986. After high school she earned her AA through Green River Community College and her bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College. She is currently finishing her final year of Washington State’s APR 6 law clerk program, with the plan to sit for the State Bar in July 2026. She has worked in Social Security Disability law since 2001 where she started as a legal assistant and has been a Non-Attorney Representative since 2011, providing advocacy for those seeking federal disability benefits.

Outside of work, Sirena and her partner of over 25 years, Christine, raise their sassy 16-year-old Dravet Warrior, Trystyn. Trystyn loves animals, musical theater, being an adaptive athlete, and all things Disney. You will often find her out on Obstacle Courses with Dealers of Hope or Beasts OCR, and street races with Ainsley’s Angels. Trystyn loves to “go fast” as she cheers on her runners from the racers seat. This family’s love of Disney has taken them to Disneyland for the yearly Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland since 2017, Walt Disney World, and Aulani, with a desire to visit all Disney properties.

Sirena has always had a strong belief in giving back, having volunteered for various non-profits throughout her life. Recently she has only had time to volunteer for pet projects, including an attempt to get legislation passed to grant Washington State parents the right to be paid caregivers to their disabled minor children, and for her friend’s non-profit that provides training on ethical leadership. She has been involved with DSF since the discovery of her daughter’s Dravet Syndrome diagnosis in 2009, hosted a Steps Toward a Cure 5k early on, and connected newly diagnosed families to DSF but this is the first time volunteering with DSF on more than a project basis. She is greatly looking forward to being part of the team challenged with the task of bringing health equity to those in this community.
