Sasha Deen-Damodaran

Sasha was born in The Bronx, NY, moved to Queens and eventually landed in Round Rock, TX where she has called home for the past 19 years. She graduated from Martin Van Buren High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Queens College. After moving to Texas, she earned a second Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at The University of Texas at Arlington. Currently, she is finishing up her pre-medical requirements and hoping to apply to medical school within three years, and is also one credit away from earning an Associate’s degree in History.

Sasha has been with her husband Biju for 27 years and married for 19 of them. They have four children together-a son Lucian-14, and three daughters, Lila—11, Loralei-9 and Larissa-7, and a cat named Storm-17. Their youngest Larissa was diagnosed at 8 months old with Dravet Syndrome. Sasha immediately joined the DSF support group to meet and learn from other caregivers fighting the same battles. Since then, she held a T-shirt fundraiser benefiting DSF and has joined advocacy efforts to bring forth legislation that will be beneficial to the Epilepsy community and the disability community as a whole. Recently she has stepped into the role as a member of the DSF Health Equity Committee and as a DSF Brand Ambassador. She also volunteers for her children’s PTA’s and sat on the Cultural and Religious Committee for the Round Rock School District.

Sasha loves to read, build with Legos-her pride is her build of the Taj Mahal, and travel. Her goal is to visit all 50 states and then visit the world. She is at 34/50 states plus D.C. Sasha wants to make sure that everyone battling Epilepsy has access to the healthcare they deserve and the support they need to thrive. She believes that DSF provides the perfect platform to make these things happen through their strong leadership and commitment to making sure a cure is found and she wants to be a part of achieving these goals.
