This year commemorates the 15th anniversary of DSF! We eagerly anticipate celebrating the initial 15 years of our impactful journey with you throughout 2024, sharing the highlights of what our community has accomplished through DSF:

This week we are taking a deeper dive on the fourth bullet point: 15 years of impact. Please visit the earlier blogs linked above to explore all of our achievements!

The field of Dravet syndrome has seen significant advancements over the last 15 years, impacting diagnosis, treatment, and overall understanding of the disease. DSF is proud to have helped play a vital role in this progress. Here are some key changes:

  • Improved Diagnosis: Advancements in genetic testing and improved access have made it easier to identify patients with Dravet syndrome. This has led to earlier and more accurate diagnoses, allowing for timely intervention.
  • Increased Awareness: Awareness of Dravet syndrome has grown substantially among clinicians, researchers, and the general public. Advocacy efforts have helped increase understanding of the condition, leading to better support for affected individuals and families.
  • Expanded Treatment Options: The treatment landscape has evolved. Since 2018, three new drugs have received approval for the treatment of Dravet syndrome.
  • Research Advancements: Ongoing research has deepened our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of Dravet syndrome, paving the way for potential therapies and interventions. Clinical trials for new treatments are becoming more frequent, offering hope for improved management of the condition.
  • Connected Community: DSF provids families with vital resources, advocacy, and community. Our network helps to connect families, provide education, and promote research funding. Having this engaged and informed community has significantly advanced progress in the field of Dravet syndrome.
  • Collaboration: Researchers, clinicians, and advocacy groups are increasingly collaborating on an international scale, sharing knowledge and resources to accelerate research and improve care for those affected by Dravet syndrome.

Your involvement is making a difference by providing support, information, and resources to those affected by Dravet syndrome. THANK YOU for your past support and we look forward to continuing to work together to drive progress in treatment and support for patients and their families.
